The air thickens inside
Just behind the door
It’s been closed for years now
A demon lives behind it
She has my face
And certainly my smile
But she’s bleeding
And she won’t show it
And she sits quietly
Plotting revenge
And muttering to herself
Sometimes when I try to sleep
She scratches at my memory
Reminding me that she’s still there
Behind that door
Breathing that thick air
Waiting for me to release her
Upon my heart
